Literature Text

The night comes calling
Nocturnal demons beckon
Howling, thrashing
Iridescent lights
Red and green
Keep the mind on edge

The brain unsettled
Cowers in its corner
A plea for peace
It's last dying wish
A feverish attempt at flight
Everything fades to static

Electricity surges the veins
The body burns brightly
A twisted piece of wreckage
Slowly unfolding,
Melting into a cold river
Of uncharted waters

As the thoughts turn inward
To bleak tragedies
Insanity creeps outward
Into frightening familiarity;
The clock strikes 12
It's better late than never

"Hush your tired eyes,
My poor forsaken child;
I'll sleep with you tonight."
Encased in arms of satin
The ghost of lost security
Comforts the crying soul

A shepardess of stars,
Warm and inviting
Calms the angriest of storms,
Granting safe passage
To the wanderers of
The waking world

"It's time for our journey,
Straight to sweet Oblivion.
Just take my hand and
Kiss the ground goodbye;
A land of eternal slumber
Awaits your sleeping eyes."
Those nights when the world just seems to envelope you in mocking silence, torturing you with endless thoughts of sleepless remorse.

I like how this reads like a story. The word choice is very nice, and the images that it creates are lovely. ...lovely and macabre. XD

It's quite deep and emotive.

"It's time for our journey,
Straight to sweet Oblivion.
Just take my hand and
Kiss the ground goodbye;
A land of eternal slumber
Awaits your sleeping eyes."

Idk why but that's my favorite stanza. The language is just so elegant and kind. I have an image of this motherly goddess wanting to take you to death, but in a painless way.
